Major Fox Memorial Scholarship

Tyra Fox

My future goals in agriculture are to become a large and small animal veterinarian. I would also like to get my embryology certificate. I have been accepted into the University of Regina to start taking my pre-veterinarian courses this fall. I believe we need more good large animal vets with an actual large animal background to help with our livestock, and I would like my embryology certificate so that I can help people get a bigger diversity in genetics.
I am a part of the Saskatchewan Junior Angus Association, I serve as the president on the board, and I am also a director on the Canadian Junior Angus Association board. To help keep youth involved and to bring in more youth we try to host as many events as possible for the juniors. In the Saskatchewan board we always have an annual junior show and an annual meeting at Canadian Western Agribition. The SJAA events are always successful for bringing in a few new members and allowing the older ones to meet up and have fun. For the Canadian Junior Angus board we have two main annual events GOAL and Showdown. Both these events always bring in many new juniors and allow new and old juniors to create great friendships. Having many junior events to keep juniors excited and interested in the industry is a great way to keep and get more youth involved.
